DAY 1 - Welcoming Ramadhan

Assalamualaikum wrt. wbt. Ramadhan Kareem!!

Alhamdulillah today is the 1st day of Ramadhan 1431 Hijri.
All Muslims from all over the world and from all walks of life start fasting
for one month period, beginning from Dawn until Maghrib everyday.
Fasting is one of the forms in worshipping Allah the Almighty.

In conjunction with this blessed month of Ramadan, we will
share about the advantages and benefits of Ramadhan and some
practices that may bring us closer to Allah.
To begin with, let us refresh our memory as to what
Allah has stated in the Holy Qur'an pertaining to this matter.
In surah al-Baqarah verse 183, Allah says:

“O believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon
those before you, so that you might remain conscious of God.”

Allah ordered us to fast: that is, to abstain from food, drink and
sexual activity. It has to be performed with a pure intention of obeying Allah's command. Fasting purifies the souls and cleanses them from evil.

Ibnu Kathir said,

“Allah mentioned that He has ordained fasting for Muslims just as He ordained it to those before them, so that they should vigorously perform this obligation more obediently than the previous nations.”

So, are we prepared to perform the order of
Allah to fast in the whole month of Ramadhan? I am pretty sure that all of us will try our best to perform this 'ibadah at our level best and finally become a good servant and vicegerant of Allah on earth.

*May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our
sins, and guide us all to the right path. Ameen.
